Red Dragon Shiba Inus - Policies

Red Dragon Shiba Inus maintains the following policies for the protection of our dogs, our clients & ourselves.  Please read these policies carefully if you are considering purchasing a puppy from Red Dragon Shiba Inus.

SPAY/NEUTER POLICY

/\ BACK TO TOP /\

All our puppies are spayed or neutered before they go home to their new families; this service is included in the purchase price.  We generally sell Shiba Inu puppies as pets only, not for breeding purposes. If you wish to purchase a puppy for breeding purposes, please contact us to discuss special terms & conditions.

WAITING LIST POLICY

/\ BACK TO TOP /\

If you place a deposit on a future puppy, your name will go on our Waiting List.  Clients on our Waiting List will get first choice (in order of deposit date) from any puppies born at Red Dragon.  When we have clients on our Waiting List, we will hold all puppies for a period of 2 weeks in order to allow those clients to choose a puppy from the current litter.  However, after 2 weeks, the puppies will be listed on other sites for sale; if you haven't made a decision by then, your choices may become more limited as the puppies sell.  Unfortunately, we cannot hold an entire litter for longer than 2 weeks.

Our puppies are examined by our veterinarian and, to the best of our knowledge, they are free from any health defects. All our puppies are spayed/neutered before they go home to their new families.  We generally sell puppies as companion pets, not for breeding purposes. No guarantee is made as to the puppy's disposition, conformation, size or mature weight.

Our health guarantee initially extends for 3 business days after the buyer's receipt of the puppy, by which time the buyer is required to have the puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian.  We require that a copy of the vet's health certificate be forwarded to us by fax, email or mail within 10 days of the buyer's receipt of the puppy.  If the puppy is not checked by a veterinarian (at the buyer's expense) within 3 business days of receipt of the puppy, our health guarantee is rendered null & void.  Furthermore, the Contract of Sale is rendered null & void if the puppy is given any vaccinations within 10 days of receipt (unless approved by us.)  Upon receipt of the vet's health certificate, the Health Guarantee will be extended to 1 year from the puppy's Date of Birth.

For the duration of this Health Guarantee, we agree to replace the puppy in the event that it is diagnosed with a genetic defect that makes it unsuitable as a companion.  The buyer must notify us within 10 days of the diagnosis of the defect, and must provide our veterinarian with any & all x-rays, medical reports, etc., used in the diagnosis.  Our veterinarian must concur with the diagnosis.  The puppy must be returned with all papers as well as a signed statement from the buyer's vet (on the vet's letterhead) stating the date of examination and the alleged health risks before any action shall be taken.  The puppy must be returned to us, at the buyer's expense, within 30 days of the decision.  If all conditions of this contract are met, we will honor this guarantee by replacing the puppy with another puppy of equal value when available.  The replacement puppy is to be picked up at the buyer's expense.  In the unlikely event of the death of the puppy, the buyer must provide proof of death by a necropsy report stating the cause of death.  The report is to be completed by a licensed veterinarian and submitted on the vet's letterhead.  If all conditions of this contract are met, we will honor this guarantee by providing a replacement puppy of equal value when available.  This guarantee and the entire contract are rendered null & void if the puppy's death is found to be due to abuse or neglect by the buyer.

Our health guarantee does NOT cover any of the following:
1) injuries or problems the puppy may develop due to neglect or abuse by the buyer;
2) hypoglycemia (low blood sugar or "sugar shock,") eyelid protrusion ("cherry eye,") entropion (in-folded eyelid,) loose hips, cryptorchidism (retained or missing testicle,) skin allergies, or grade 1 or 2 luxating patella (dislocated kneecap);
3) hip dysplasia, if the puppy is overweight or over-exercised;
4) giardia (a parasite for which the puppy has been treated by our vet)
5) any existing condition listed on the Contract of Sale

Transportation for puppies is to be arranged by the buyer; the puppy is to be picked up at Red Dragon Shiba Inus in southern San Luis Obispo County, California.  Terms are cash on pick-up.  All sales are final.  Venue and jurisdiction for any litigation arising out of any sale by (or related to) Red Dragon Shiba Inus lies exclusively in San Luis Obispo County, California.

For reasons related to insurance liability, as well as our own preferences, we do not allow clients in our kennel area.  When you come to meet &/or pick up your puppy, we will bring the puppy out to you in our patio area.

If the buyer is unable to pick up their puppy on or before the date that has been arranged, we will hold the puppy for a period of 1 week (7 days) without penalty.  However, we require that the buyer contact us to let us know their intentions.  After the 7-day holding period (unless other arrangements are made,) we will charge the buyer a kennel fee of $35 per day until the puppy is picked up.  If no other arrangements have been made & the puppy still is not picked up within 14 days of the original pick-up date, the deposit is forfeited and the puppy will go back on the market for sale.

The buyer accepts all responsibility for the care of the puppy.  This includes, but is not limited to: providing a proper diet for the dog so that it maintains a sensible weight for its size, age and breed; providing standard vaccinations, heart worm, flea & tick preventative; and providing appropriate levels of exercise.

We will provide you with all the forms required to register your puppy with either the WWKC or the AKC, depending on the litter's Dam & Sire.
